Coastal Jazz Foundation for the Performing Arts in conjunction with Creative Cultural Collaborations Society presented the BIG PRINT JAZZ PROJECT on Granville Island July 1, 2, 3 and 4th, 2016
Granville Island Canada Day long weekend 9:00 am - 6:00 pm
“With each set of prints, everyone seemed equally invested in the successful outcome of the process. It was a beautiful summer afternoon in a city that can use a lot more of this kind of art project: simple, playful, ambitious and carefully attuned to the unique topography of the surrounding metropolis.” Antonio Eligio (Tonel), writing about The Big Print Project 2014
Summer 2016, saw artists and public alike engaging in an unique event: printmaking with a steamroller. The series of stunning 4’X 8’ prints were pulled from the pavement of Granville Island using an industrial construction roller as a printing press. Taking place in a parking lot on Granville Island, 11 different prints were inked and printed…not once, but four times each. A collaborative team of professional artists including: Mariko Ando, Ben Bonner (collaboration) Matt, Bobbie Burgers, Leonard Brett,Taiga Chiba, Ian Forbes, Saskia Jette, Barbara Klunder, Arnold Shives, Kelly Shpeley, Tracey Tarling, and Richard Tetrault.
Master Printer - Peter Braune
